Part listening session, part social and always with community at heart.

Born in 2014 from a desire to bring the production community together Escher Music Connection started as a Thursday evening session at Bristol’s specialist synth store Elevator Sound. Stuffing a club system into the shop windows and inviting producers to bring their tracks down to Stokes Croft for a few hours of mixing unsigned, unheard local bangers. With no genre or experience restrictions, the events are open to anyone and everyone who makes their own music. From shiny final productions to rough rips and WIP beats, we’ll take it all. Tunes were signed, labels started, collaborations and remixes pitched during those rowdy in-store sessions right up until 2020 when the pandemic brought it all to a halt.

Escher returned in 2022 with a new face and a new venue, now located at Bristol’s favourite new venue Strange Brew on the last Monday of the month, Escher still revolves around the idea of community - bringing underground producers out from their bedrooms, spare rooms and studios and into a club space. Adapting to the pandemic, Escher also run a Discord server where artists can discuss mixing and production, hardware use and pitch in ideas and discuss future events as a collective.

After over 7 years of monthly sessions; from seeing tracks come in as WIP quick bounces then grow to full releases to hearing artists develop their technique as the years have gone on. With Escher taking some downtime over the pandemic it seemed right to finally have a celebration of the community that’s grown and the amazing tracks submitted on a monthly basis.

With ESCHER22, we present a small cross-section of the Escher experience. With productions from long standing members and a few new faces covering everything from psychedelic 90s techno to slick rap productions, blown out experimental hiphop and warbling watery ambience. All profits from the compilation will go directly to supporting Bristol Mind and the incredible work they do here in the community.
